Residential Care Services
For over 25 years, Broadmoor House administrators have offered long-term residential care for adults with developmental disabilities. We encourage continued growth toward individual maximum potential within community-integrated, home-like environments. We believe that adults with intellectual disabilities are capable, integral members of the community and can contribute as functional members of society.
All Broadmoor House facilities have private, double-occupancy bedrooms, and each resident is encouraged to use their belongings to make their room as comfortable and homelike as possible. Other areas of the home are common areas used by all residents. Broadmoor House staff provides assistance, supervision and training. Interaction & communication among residents and staff is important. Every resident’s strengths and abilities are continually assessed, and staff works individually with each resident to provide the supports needed in areas of challenge and areas of desired growth and learning.
A daily routine is established for each resident that provides for consistency and new experiences. Each resident has a plan outlining their support needs. This plan outlines specific outcomes either expressed by the resident or evaluated as an area of support needed for the individual. The plan is used to help each resident progressively strengthen his/her own individual knowledge, skills, and independence. Plans may include goals related to personal care, general housekeeping, living skills, social skills, or community integration. The resident is involved in reviewing the goals and objectives at least quarterly.
Family settings within the residential programs allow for practice of life skills such as cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, and budgeting. Individuals receiving services are encouraged to make choice in all aspects of their daily living routine to the best of their ability including: choosing the décor in their bedrooms and common rooms, planning healthy food choices, maintaining the home and property, and voting on their choice for group, or individual recreation and vacation destinations.
